CALL FOR PAPERS

EUROPEAN SOCIETY FOR THE HISTORY OF ECONOMIC THOUGHT

1997 ESHET Annual Conference
Marseille (France), 27 February - 2 March 1997=20

The first ESHET Conference will take place in Marseilles=20
from 27 February to 2 March, 1997. It will be organized by GREQAM,=20
a research group associated to the "Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences
Sociales"=20
and the=A0Universities of Aix-Marseille II and Aix-Marseille III,=20
with the support of GDR-CNRS "Histoire de la Pens=E9e et M=E9thodologie
Economiques".

The Conference Scientific Committee will include=20

Richard ARENA, Riccardo FAUCCI, Harald HAGEMANN, Heinz KURZ,=20
Luigi PASINETTI, Pier Luigi PORTA, Andrew SKINNER=20
(all members of the Executive Committee of ESHET),=20

Andr=E9=A0LAPIDUS, Cristina MARCUZZO, Steve RANKIN, Heinz RIETER,=20

The Conference shall have a PLENARY SESSION with invited lecturers;=20
a THEMATIC SESSION dedicated to Keynesianism before and after Keynes=20
and a set of OPEN separate and parallel SESSIONS.

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS AND PAPERS=20

I - TO THE THEMATIC SESSION : =ABKEYNESIANISM BEFORE AND AFTER KEYNES=BB

The 1997 Programme Committee organizer is Bertram SCHEFOLD.=20
The Programme Committee also includes Luigi=A0PASINETTI and Jean=A0ROSIO.=20
Other members may be coopted.=20

Year 1996 - during which the ESHET Conference will be prepared - coincides=
=20
with the sixtieth anniversary of the publication of Keynes' General Theory.=
=20
It also coincides with the fiftieth aniversary of Keynes' death.=20
These two celebrations will give the=A0opportunity of organizing a thematic
session=20
dedicated to Keynesianism before and after Keynes, which will include two
parts=A0:

         1. PREKEYNESIAN DEBATES ON THE CAUSES=20
             OF THE GREAT DEPRESSION=20
             and on policy measures to reduce unemployment.=20
             Papers might refer to the origins and precursors=20
             of keynesianism, focussing especially, on early theoretical
             and policy debates before Keynes,=20
             in the various European Countries.

         2. THE GENERAL THEORY AND ITS RECEPTION.=20
             Papers should deal with the reception of the General Theory=20
             amongst European theorists and policy-advisers=20
             and especially with its importance for=20
             the XXth century history of economic thought.

Participants wishing to submit papers=20
are invited to SEND, BEFORE 1 JULY 1996, proposals ( 500 / 700 words ) to :

. The full papers are requested by January 1st, 1997

Final papers should be typed clearly and cover no more than 20 sides of A4
or quarto.=20
If possible, please send a version of the paper on disc, using ASCII or MS=
 WORD.

If an accepted paper is not received by the due date of January 1st, 1997,=
=20
than its authors are responsible for its production and distribution, and at
their own cost.
