PREMIERE CONFERENCE DE L'ESHET A MARSEILLE EN 1997
The EUROPEAN SOCIETY FOR THE HISTORY OF ECONOMIC THOUGHT
(E.S.H.E.T.)
The European Society for the History of Economic Thought has been founded in
1995 The objectives of the society shall be to promote :
- teaching and research in the history of economic Thought in Europe, taking
account of different traditions and languages ;
- co-operation with European national economic societies and organizations
in the history of economic thought ;
- communications and the exchange of ideas amongst European teachers and
researchers in the history of economic thought. including conferences,
seminars and summer schools ;
- the establishment of links with national economic societies and
organizations for the history of economic thought outside Europe ;
- innovative methods in the teaching of the history of economic thought ;
- collaborative research in the history of economic thought on an European
basis.

The Annual General Meeting of the E.S.H.E.T. will be held
on 9th February at 18:00
in the Library
of the Institute of Economics and Business Administration
of the Technical University of Lisbon,
Rua Miguel Lupi, 1-11-1200, Lisbon
with the following agenda :
1 Report on the past activities of the Society
2. Election of the members of the Council of the Society
3. Information on the work in progress
on the future Conferences of E.S.H.E.T.
(the first Conference to be held in Marseilles, February 1997 and the second
in Bologna, February 1998)
4. Discussion on Society membership fees.
5. Other related topics.
This General Meeting benefit from the facilities provided by the Conference
on the History of Economics organized from 8th to lOth February by professor
J.L. Cardoso.

FIRST CONFERENCES OF E.S.H.E.T. : MARSEILLE 1997 - BOLOGNA 1998
The two first conferences of ESHET will be organized respectively in
Marseilles (February 1997) and Bologna (February 1998). The Scientific
Committee of both conferences will
include all the members of the Executive Committee and Council of the Society.
It is proposed that both conferences will last three days. It is also
proposed that they will include one or two
plenary lectures. One day will be devoted to a specific theme (the first
will be dedicated to Keynes and keynesianism). The rest of the Conference
will consist in parallel sessions on various themes. One of the tasks of the
Conference Scientific Committee will be to select the plenary lectures and
the contributions to the parallel session.
Marseilles Conference.
The local organizer is Jean Rosio from University of Aix-Marseille. The
research groups which will support the Conference are the G.R.E.Q.A.M.
(located in Marseilles)and the G.D.R.-C.N.R.S. "Histoire de la Pensee et
Methodologie Economiques" A provisional Program Committee includes L.
Pasinetti, J. Rosio and B. Schefold. Its task will be to select the
contributions to the thematic session (on Keynes and keynesianism) and to
organize it.

Bologna Conference.
The local organizer is Roberto Scazzieri from University of Bologna. The
Departlnent of economics of the University will support the Conference. A
provisional Program Committee includes P.L. Porta and R. Scazzien. Its task
will be to organize a thenatic session which may provisionaly be indicated
as "institutions, markets and division of labour" and to select the
contributions to this session.
